Wild Horses Grazing

Welcome to the Friends of the Wild West!

We are a non-profit group of like minded individuals that wish to promote the culture and values of what was once the Wild West, by providing a truly Western experience to those who do not usually get the opportunity to enjoy these time honoured traditions and beliefs. We have members from a wide variety of occupations such as museum curators, postal workers, musicians, builders, stock contractors, business persons, Rodeo workers, farmers, and ranchers.

By hosting events such as rodeos, Wild West shows, and musical concerts, we endeavour to raise funds to help support the following two (2) causes:

  1. The protection and conservation of the Wild Horse populations of Alberta.
  2. The promotion of early childhood literacy programs amongst First Nations children.

By providing our guests, be they local or from abroad, with an educational and entertaining experience showcasing our western and native cultures, we will raise the resources to help maintain those very cultures.

Mission Statement :

We endeavour to facilitate the opportunity for all people, foreign or domestic, to experience the Wild West through art, culture, music, and equine recreation. Furthermore, we hope to foster a learning environment about Alberta's First Nations Peoples, Alberta's history, and the conservation of the Albertan Wild Horse population.
